How We Work
Discover our vision, mission, and the principles that guide Amani Home in providing safe shelter and empowerment for refugees and vulnerable individuals.
No one should have to live without a safe home. We envision a world where every individual has access to shelter, support, and opportunities for a better future.
To provide safe shelter and comprehensive empowerment programs for refugees and vulnerable individuals, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
To offer temporary shelter, rehabilitation opportunities, educational programs, social welfare services, family reunification support, and physical care to refugees and vulnerable adults committed to rebuilding their lives.
Guest vs. Clients
Our mission is to provide safe shelter and empowerment for refugees and vulnerable individuals. This means that Amani Home interviews potential guests before they become our clients. We must ensure that individuals truly want our help and are committed to the rehabilitation process.
A client who seeks our assistance is required to meet with our social worker, contribute to the community through work or other means, and actively participate in their journey toward stability. Guests stay at our shelter on a temporary basis while we assess their needs and commitment.
Shelter Contributions
Our clients are encouraged to contribute to the shelter community. We believe in breaking cycles of dependency and fostering responsibility. While we do not charge mandatory fees, clients are asked to participate in daily tasks such as gardening, cleaning, or assisting in educational programs to "earn" their stay and build valuable skills.
Those unable to contribute physically receive support through our general funds and donations. This approach ensures equality and mutual respect between staff, volunteers, and clients.
